Couldn't resist picking this up on ebay for super cheap ($30 delivered) as I've been curious about this model from FM. I think I've heard tales of the canopy being way off? But I'm so far from an expert on the airframe that I couldn't tell ya -- so chime in with what you know and see here in the pics plz. Also, I've not researched the livery yet, either, so if anyone has info or links to share please do.
I would be pretty darn disappointed I must say if I paid close to MSRP or some of the obscene "retired" prices you can find for this model online here and there, but for $30... it's interesting and gives some diversity to a 1:48 display. Naturally I prefere Corgi's Mossie, but I wanted one in 1:48, too, and a FM example to put on my site.
A bummer to me is right behind the glass nose you can see the support used to join the top and bottom fuselage halves and there is not interior compartment detail/equipment in this section, which would have been a good idea. Plus, this model is sort of a Friday Afternoon Special with some paint blemishes, one that looks like a fingerprint smear. (I'm convinced that some of these guys selling FM models on ebay for really low prices are dumping unofficial factory seconds or something -- though a few I've bought have been pristine, too, so who really knows.)
Plus, for its size and brand, the model is pretty light. Feels a bit cheap.
