RPG hits could do some serious damage to the paint job.

Humor aside, I really wouldn't know either as to why slat armor would be installed on them. It would make more sense to install reactive armor similar to the Abrams TUSK to counter RPGs.


The latest news shows that Even the Abrams TUSK uses Slat Armour for protection at the rear.

Looks like the Canadians were out on the leading edge when it came to upgrading tanks to be protected in urban combat zones!



TUSK stands for “Tank Urban Survival Kit,” and represents the American approach to the problem of employing tanks in urban situations where weapons elevation, protection placement, and other design elements aren’t designed to cope with key threats.
