Re: my first 1/35 tank

I just received my very first 1/35 scale #122 Tiger tank (61003) and am so impressed that I'll be switching my main collecting focus from airplanes to tanks and in this particular scale. Simply amazing detail and I really like the presentation also.

Hi dasboot, just saw your thread.

I'm a recent convert to 1/35 pre-built armour as well. I received a Dragon 1/35 Tiger I (#61019) as a gift not too long ago and boy was I impressed. To me, the strength of Dragon's 1/35 stuff lies in the weathering and finishing touches, which makes them look very realistic...almost like the real thing...and the weathering is not overdone. The fact that it is made out of plastic does not bother me so much though I can understand why some forummers place a heavy emphasis on heft, which is why Minichamps appeal to them. Minichamps other strength is that it appeals to collectors who like their tanks to have a pristine look. Ultimately, it is a question of taste.

For me, I collect both Dragon and Minichamps, though IMHO, I think that Dragon's 1/35 range, and Tamiya's 1/48mm collection and 1/35th Masterworks series are the best available in the current market.

By the way, since you like Dragon 1/35, are you into Tamiya pre-built armour? I recently got hold of a couple of Tigers in 1/48 scale and an M1A2 Abrams in 1/35 scale. Very awesome.
