Meanwhile Altaya is about to give us a 1:144th scale Betty at less than a tenth the price of the Marushin entry. So I might just sit back and be patient, awaiting future developments. We'll see.

Yup -- well I only have one lifetime to live and seeing how Corgi is going these days and some of the others have already been going, I'd be putting my money on the most likely to cough a model like this. Sounds like these guys are going for it. Now all I have to do is sell an organ!
