It's not just a fluke. The Flatleys are a Naval Aviation Dynasty if there ever is one. Jimmy Flatley Jr of the Grim Reapers and VF-5 had a son, Jimmy Flatley III who was also a Naval Aviator, landing a C-130 aboard the Forrestal, flying in Vietnam in VF-31, CO of VF-33, and CAG of the Saratoga's Air Wing during the 1970s. Jimmy Flatley IV was CO of the Black Knights during Iraqi Freedom, Commander Joe Flatley, another grandson of Jimmy flew Hornets and retired after 16 years of service.
