Re: Heinkel 219 choices

I was kinda hoping IXO would release a 2nd in completely different

markings and colors so I could get a 2nd.

That would be nigh-on impossible, sadly.

The Major criticism/gripe, from I.P.M.S. kit-makers - when Tamiya released their (utterly superb) injection-moulded plastic kit, of the He.219 onto the open market - was the extremly limited options of paint schemes/colour choices (didn't stop me buying a few though !!!).

ALL wartime He.219's were painted up, using only TWO basic colours,

RLM 76 Licht-blau ..........overall, top & bottom.

(Light-Blue - though more resembling a Blue-Grey).

AND

RLM 75 Grau-Violet.........splotches, formed into a disruptive pattern,

which were painted over the Top-Surface of the RLM 76.

(explained away, as "Standard" Luftwaffe Night-Fighter colours).

The ONLY Major difference was that some, had......

RLM 66 Schwartz-Grau (Black-Grey) undersides (overall).

So, mostly TWO, occasionally THREE (different shades).
