Airfix 1/48th Seafire FR.47

I built this kit aback in 2006 and thought I'd share it with you all.

The only thing not out of the box is the canopy, which was replaced by a vacform version by Aeroclub as the original does not line up with the fuselage canopy rails and sits far to high. Despite this it's a nice kit, goes together well with little filling needed. The old problem is still the decals, which are very poor quality when compared to superscale etc, and sadly replacements are not available for this kit.

This model represents a Seafire FR.47 from 800 Squadron FAA in early 1950, just prior to their deployment aboard HMS Triumph to the Korean Theatre in June. I probably should have put the external fuel tanks under the wings, but I just couldn't resist those 60lb RP's!

Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.
