New York, New York | | | | Re: New IXO 1:144 Scale Bomber Images | They do look awesome and the one that I think looks the best is the "Emily", But I only collect 1/72 but they do all look very tempting. | To those who only collect 1:72nd or larger models, I'd suggest giving selected aircraft in this particular series closer scrutiny. Certainly, those like myself, who already have Corgi B-17s, B-24s, Lancasters, HE-111s, JU-52s, PBYs, B-25s and JU-88s in 1:72nd will be understandably reluctant to go 1:144th for the same planes. However when it comes to an Emily, Mavis, Ju-290, Piaggio P 108, SM-79, Cant Z 1007, Betty, Helen, or Short Sterling, that's another matter. The way things are going, it's not hard to imagine another 1:144th scale series that gives us a B-47, B-36, B-52, Bear and Bison, among others. I'm not going to avoid any of these---subject to reasonable quality standards---just because they aren't in my favorite scale. On the other hand, if these guys turn out a 1:144th scale series of WW I fighters, they can keep them. That's too small, even for a flexible fellow like me. |
