Re: Looking for a good P-38 diecast

I was looking at the Scat II, I really like the overall paint.

I will give you my opinion in a week or so. I was fortunate to buy one from Pappy this week.

I just got Scat II today ( thanks again Pappy). And I must say that it looks great....yet I do have some complaint. This is a P-38 that looks like a brand new plane that just came off the assembly line. Even the turbo chargers look like they have less than 5 hours total time on them. I might be wrong, but I can't imagine many airplanes were shipped from the US with the invasion strips already on them. Thus, to have invasion strips on a brand new looking plane just seems wrong. Don't get me wrong, as I am not complaining, just my observation.

I might try doing some weathering of my own in a few months after I have had the opportunity to practice on some other planes that I have an extra of. But unless I am totally comfortable with my weathering skills it will not be done. Afterall, no other person that I know other than you guys would probably catch this if they were looking at it.
