At least there are some nice looking pictures of these models on the UK site. The model is most definitely a PBY-5 and not an A Model. As mentioned earlier the front turret should not have such vertical sides, but some slight angle to it. I have quite a few pictures of these early PBYs and cannot find any that have the antenna as shown in pictures as the model has on both sides on the fuselage below the cockpit. As far as the waist blisters go, not sure if they are maybe slightly over sized or positioned slightly to high. Downward looking pictures I have show more space between the two positions. They did nail the beaching gear pretty spot on, and I wish Corgi had done the same with there models. It may not make out to well as a PBY-5A, but it does make for a PBY-5 flying boat variant. If I had the room to display one of these big beasties, I might just be tempted to pick one up. May not be a perfect model, but have yet to see one that is. |
