Exclamation Re: Poll: what about a Brit WW2 25 pounder?

Dear Admiral,

It doesn't matter who it is but.............

.............. if you are a true 1.72 die-cast collector you must wish for a British 25 pounder field gun, an ammo trailer ( caisson ) married to the ubiquitous Quad tractor which saw action from North Africa to Europe to the Far East.

If you are British, you may recall that every schoolboy from 1954 to the 1970s wanted to own the only decent version in existence, the Dinkey Toys version in about 1.43 scale. This was the queen of the battlefield on many bedroom floors.

The Dinkey version was solid and basic with not too much detail, but they sold in millions! Also, the Dinkey version did not try to include the 360 degree traversing ring which the gunners mounted the gun wheels on for ease of traverse in action. This was carried under the gun when towed or sometimes on the rear of the Quad. You can still pick up a decent specimen on ebay at a reasonable price...there are still a lot out there!

The 88 may look lethal ( and was ) but the 25 pounder, its traversing ring, the ammunition carrier and the Quad tractor all in metal would be a coup for Admiral ( or Dragon or ? ).

Let's think about that one.
