| Shawn - I thought the F-1 was the Defense Department's "revised" designation for ALL FJ Furies. The poll choices are purposely generic otherwise I wouldn't be able to put up enough choices. |
lanslide, you are correct about the post 1962 F-1 designation for the Fury. However, all the FJ-1 aircraft were long phased out by then, so the revised designation does not apply to that particular airframe. The revised F-1 designation was applied to the FJ-3 and the FJ-4. Those became the F-1C and F-1E; respectively, with the FJ-4B becoming the AF-1E.
