I really try to stress this "there's no such thing as a free lunch" concept with my students too. It's always funny to me how quickly they get it and the other basics of economics, and how somewhere between middle-school and Washington it seems to get lost. Free education, free health care, free food....
No concept of incentives and motives here at all.

That's okay, parsig. Some politicians still don't understand why raising the minimum wage leads to layoffs. (Limited pot of money...more to each employee...Oops! That means someone's gotta go...!) Not a difficult concept, but it still escapes them.....
