| Actually, I think the Mk.22/24 Spitfire and the Mk. 47 Seafire were postwar. I don't think any of them saw service in WW2-- Can anyone confirm this one way or another? Maybe some saw service in Korea, but again I am not sure. Still, it is a great looking airplane-- sort of rugged, brutish and beautiful. Also, it is historic, being the last of the Spitfires. I would love to see HM release one of these. |
You are correct, I think only Egyptian Mk.22s saw combat (Suez Crisis of 1956), but that's it. SeaFires saw very limited action at the end of WWII as well as early in Korean campaign. Don't know about Seafires in the French service.
