Re: New England Air Musuem

Yes that is Windsor locks and the A 10's lined up was real cool!! To bad your losing them, I would love to be there when they are taking off and flying around!!! Here is another pic for ya rush!

Tank Nut,

I live in Somers which is about 15 miles due east of the airport. Roughly 2 to 3 times a week the A-10s buzz over my house. Usually they've just taken off or are coming in for a landing. Sometimes they are real low as they practice low level flying in between the Connecticut hills in my town. And on holidays like Memorial Day and the 4th they are zooming back and forth to do fly overs for parades. You can always tell it's them because their engines whine rather than roar. Years ago I worked with a guy whose father was the munitions chief for this unit. He arranged for us to tour the base and even sit in the planes. Man! Those birds are huge! If I can find the pictures I'll try scanning them and posting them. A moment I've never forgotten. Back then they wore the European I two tone green and dark gray camo. Today they are back in the all gray color scheme.

PS: Ive just added some of the pictures I've found. I aplogize for the quality - these are over 20 years old (March 1981)!
