Very nice, Starman! Did it get a coat of whitewash?
Hworth18 found me one at Target in Tulsa. Thanks again, H.W.!
It should be flying into Wichita later this weekend. I can't wait! N. M. F. = Nude Metal Finish ? That poor spitfire is lookin' kinda nekkid. |
SkyBuff - That Spitfire may look strange

to some of you guy's, but I love it to bits.
It makes a refreshing change, seeing a Mk V in anything BUT camo' - even all the Oz ones (Austrailian) are normally always in Camouflage (you can tell these are Oz; because of the serial No's on the rear fuselage - despite the Colour/Kangaroo roundel accompanying the pic').
If Starman
did use Whitewash ? - How accurate is that ????
Suprisingly (although not commonly), the R.A.F. regularly used
'whitewash distemper' on aircraft that needed a Winter coat, where necessary - like on 151 Sqdn Hurricanes that went to Murmansk/Russia - and in 1945 the first group of Gloster Meteors (616 Sqdn) that were sent to Continental Europe (Belgium) during the last five months of the (E.T.O.) war.... (with STRICT orders NOT to fly over enemy-held lines (though they did ! - ever so slightly !).
