Parsig, I like my Kempf 1:48 MP Fokker Tripe. But it's only balanced between the Carousel and Matchbox in the sense that it has appropriate rigging. It is shiny, therefore it looks metalic, whereas the Matchbox, though lacking rigging, has a much more realistic, flatter finish. Matchbox also has a detailed prop, and a rotary engine that actually turns with the propeller, whereas the cylinders on the MP do not turn, and in fact are too long to fit inside the engine cowling even if they could turn. The MP prop has some detail, but, unlike the Matchbox, is all one color.
Again, I have a number of MP's, and like them, but the Matchbox is certainly superior to the MP, and really rivals the Carousel in everything except rigging. |
