New York, New York | | | | Re: Italeri 1/100 scale aircraft I have purchased about a dozen of these planes and so far they are a mixed bag. Some are fine as is, but others feature badly placed and silvered insignias and other markings, lumps of rough metal and gashes marring the lower fuselage and wing surfaces, and in one case a smashed canopy that was held together with some form of crazy glue. So even though the basic molds are OK as to the amount of detail---in a few cases even better than the old Armour planes--- and the add-on weapons, fuel tanks, etc, are done fairly well, it's buyer beware on this line. So far I have five of these planes on display. I totally repainted the Mig-17, made extensive corrections on the F-80 and Mystere and minor ones on the Meteor and Israeli Mirage. I think that the best way to describe this line is this. The basic parts are fine, considering the mass production designs employed. However the models were assembled and detailed in such haste that there are numerous flaws purists such as myself cannot accept. If you are not into making sometimes extensive corrections, proceed with caution. |
