Seeing the two MiG-29's listed on the Witty web page, it does appear they retained the extensions on the fins. Since this is an obvious error, it seems strange to collectors that they did this. However, I don't think Witty is catering to collectors, but rather to mass retailers, where mistaken fin extensions just aren't important. (Did Witty ever correct the pilot location in their Spits?) I have 18 Witty's, all props, and enjoy them all (except for the troll-like pilots), but just can't believe the company is trying to compete with the likes of HM, Corgi, or Gemini. Apparently they have their own marketing strategy, and it seems to be working, since they don't seem to have any problem turning out (and selling) huge numbers of models. |
