Re: Corgi 1/48 Choppers

This Corgi range of helicopters consists of the Bell H-47, UH-1 Huey and the AH-1 Cobra. Does anyone collect this range?

A while back a friend bought me an AH-1G, 'Gambler Guns', at a UK airshow from CHC. I really like the Grand Daddy of gunships! A couple of days ago I bought 'The Crystal Ship', also a G model. Quite looking forward to getting this one.

I was also tempted to get the UH-1 but didn't like exposed screw below the nose. Some nice models available though. The AH-1s only have one recessed screw on the bottom in the middle. I'd really like a collectors edition AH-1J with the twin engines and 20mm cannon.

Strange thing is when I've found US51204 AH-1J Cobra USMC, HML-367, it had the G model turrent. Only on TFM site did I see this model (pics) with the 20mm gun. Odd that.

ZS,

I've got a couple of the Corgi UH-1's, my favorite being the Marine UH-1E USMC Frog Gunship with door mounted M-60's, rocket pods and platform mounted electrically fired M-60's.

If you haven't gotten the FM Hueys ("D" models?) then I'd say get those instead. They're well done and IMHO are nicer than the Corgi's.

I also have the FM UH-1C Army Gunship (Limitied Edition) and although some don't like the rivets, I think it's the best one available. It's extremely detailed and has lots of moving parts, i.e. pilot doors open/close, stabs move, etc..
