| HART'S WAR--great P-51D scenes HART'S WAR (Bruce Willis, Colin Farrell) has two great, but brief, P-51D Mustang scenes.
1. A impressive scene of P-51s strafing a German train carrying American POWs. The scene has real P-51s from a British company that rents warplanes for filming. The P-51s attack at tree top level as viewed from the POWs vantage. Director Greg Hoblit said during filiming, the cast and crew were awestruck when the P-51s first appeared and began their strafing runs. The scene was based on a real incident (involving a Supreme Court justice?) in which the POWs got out of the train and lined up to spell out "POW" which resulted in the P-51s breaking off their attack.
2. A CGI dogfight over the POW camp involving a Tuskegee P-51 shooting down a BF-109. The BF-109 crashes into the POW camp. A B-17 trailing smoke barely visible in the background adds to the realism of the scene. |
