It looks great Harry and well worth doing. I've always hated the 'empty greenhouse' stuck on the front although it appears to be an accurate feature. Surely a single Vickers K gun (like the Halifax) would allow him to keep the U Boat crew distracted. Apart from the depth charges/bombs this meant that this Wimpy had two rear .303 mgs for offence/defence? In certain marks of the Sunderland two .303 Brownings were installed on each side of the nose fired by the pilot in addition to the front turret gunners pair. In fact RAF B-24s of Coastal Command had a ventral pack of 4 20MM cannon to dissuade U Boat crews from fighting it out. |
