Look at the HJ division in Normandy, they got their ass kicked for 2/3 months and were an empty shell come September. However that being said, I bet every British/Canadian/Polish soldier that fought against them would admit their fighting prowess and spirit were top notch. | Yes but fighting from a defense is much easier than being on the offense. And considering the open country envolved it wasn't hard to rack a good score against the Brits/Poles/Canadians. Did the German fight hard and well? Yes, but why is it always the SS that gets the credit? The Army was larger and shouldered more than any SS unit ever did. Its all about the myth and cool guy factor I know. However if the SS was so darn great, the Germans would have won the war. The worship of these guys escapes me and apparently others as well. |
