Re: 2007 Dawn Patrol

Glad you made it parsig. Too bad we didn't run into each other. I was there Saturday, wearing my MH II shirt. I was going to remind you of it, but then the MH II was down, so I didn't have the chance. The Sopwith Tripe you show was a pretty cool aircraft, wasn't it!

Did you get a chance to see the WW I Mercedes engine that one guy had, under a tent, along with his Fokker D VII airframe and wins he was building? Pretty cool, though he had it all there two years ago, looks like he hasn't worked on it too much in the meantime.

I saw it! Interesting commentary on the history of the engine too. I really had fun. Very relaxing and great folks to talk too about their planes. Especially like the little E.III monoplane homebuilts. Very cool how much love and relatively little money goes into these little VW powered beauties. Military Toy Shop was there and though I did not buy, I did finally get to see the C1 Fokker Tri-Plane up close. I want it! I will be buying some WWI birds and dumping some of the multiples I have. There is some real beauty and, something simple and aweing about these old kites that really appealed to me. I must add WWI to my collection. Get ready Corgi. Went over to the museum after to see all my old friends. Love the D9 and JU88 in Romanian paint, PBY, P-61, Spad XIII... So many others. If there are any members here who have not been, you need to see it Must have looked at the DH. 4 for 15 minutes... I just love that place. Thanks for the heads up Captain Eddie.

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!
